    The Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing from Sioux City, Iowa decided to continue with their mobility exercise this week after making a last minute decision to move the event away from the Gulf Coast because of Hurricane Sally.
  • Iowa Guard Airmen support COVID-19 Test Iowa initiative

    Iowa Air National Guard members from the 185th Air Refueling Wing helped set up a COVID-19 test site in Sioux City, Iowa this week. The Iowa Airmen are assisting local and state agencies at the drive through test site that is set up in the parking lot of the Western Iowa Technical Community College campus, on the east side Sioux City.
  • Jacobsmeier says yes to state activation call for COVID-19

    Iowa Air National Guard Lt. Colonel Debbie Jacobsmeier is working as the Officer in Charge of Region 3, Regional Medical Coordination Center site in Sioux City, Iowa. Jacobsmeier is a traditional guard member, assigned to the 185th Air Refueling Wing clinic in Sioux City, Iowa. Jacobsmeier volunteered for state active duty as part of the state’s response to COVID-19.

    Security forces Airmen from across the United States gathered at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, from January 21-25, 2020, to train for the Defender Challenge, a competition between security forces members.
  • Team Iowa Guard tackles Relay Iowa, the world’s longest relay

    The Iowa National Guard is one of 40 teams from around the nation participating in Relay Iowa, this weekend. The world’s longest non-stop relay is a 336 mile running event that begins on the banks of the Missouri River in Sioux City on Iowa’s western border and ends in Dubuque on the Mississippi River. Even though the event is celebrating its tenth year this is the first time the Iowa Army and Air Guard team is participating.

    185th Air Refueling Wing Military Pay Specialist Shellie Nelson is becoming certified “Green Belt” in continuous process improvement. Nelson is being mentored by Blake Enneking who works as a Manpower Specialist at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.
  • Security Forces Airman honors ancestors through service

    Staff Sgt. Trisha Ross, an Airman with the Iowa National Guard’s 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, Iowa received the Military Meritorious Service Award from the Society for American Indian Government Employees (SAIGE) on June 8, 2017 during a ceremony held in Scottsdale, AZ. SAIGE is a non-profit organization representing American Indian and Alaska Natives in federal, tribal, state, and local government and their motto is honoring our ancestors through government service.
