  • Wyoming Senator visits Guardsmen

    Sen. John Barrasso shared a Thanksgiving meal with deployed Wyoming Air National Guardsmen, assigned to the 737th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron in Southwest Asia Nov. 23. The Wyoming senator, who is also a member of the senate committee on foreign relations, was traveling to engage in discussions with government officials and military commanders regarding political, economic, and military security issues impacting the region. Additionally, he observed the mission of the Wyoming ANG and other forward deployed forces first-hand.

    More than 100 Airmen from the 153rd Airlift Wing based in Cheyenne, Wyoming, deployed to the 737th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron recently in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. In September and October, approximately half of the 153rd Airmen deployed here were deployed using their Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System capability to battle wildfires in northern California which tore through the state, scorching more than 160,000 acres and leaving more than 15,000 people homeless.
