This past month for the North Carolina Air National Guard’s 263rd Combat Communications Squadron, this meant traveling to Robbins Air Force Base, Georgia, for the National Combat Communications Rodeo.

    Following strategic safety measures, an 11-person team from the 145th Logistics Readiness Squadron is activated and sent to Kinston, North Carolina, Sept. 17, 2018, to relieve a team of North Carolina Air National Guardsmen that have been creating and moving supply pallets filled with food and water during Hurricane Florence.
  • North Carolina Airmen judge JROTC drill competition

    Volunteering their time, Airmen of the North Carolina Air National Guard, spent the day at Independence High School judging the annual Patriot Classic Drill Competition which drew in Air Force Junior Reserve Offices' Training Corps teams from 14 high schools with over 300 students participating. The competition is a qualifying event where winners can move onto regional and national competitions
  • Total Force medical team transports Sailor home

    When a 34-year-old Navy sailor suffered multiple traumatic injuries during a mission in Syria, a Total Force team of medical professionals and Mobility Airmen sprung into action, intent on saving the life of a fellow service member. The sailor suffered injuries while performing improvised explosive device clearing operations. The severity of his injuries reduced his survival rate to two percent, requiring urgent transport from Syria to Texas.
  • North Carolina ANG firefighters train like they fight

    On a corner of the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, 25 agencies and over 100 volunteers gathered to participate in the Triennial National Disaster Medical Systems Exercise to fulfill a Federal Aviation Administration requirement. The exercise goal is to demonstrate the ability to alert, notify, and respond to an aircraft accident utilizing and communicating between various organizations to ultimately recover and render medical aid to victims. A C-130 Hercules aircraft for the 145th Airlift Wing was utilized in the scenario to add realism, and firefighters from the 145th Civil Engineer Squadron participated as part of our interagency agreements.
