Air National Gaurd Supports Regional Mass Fatality Management Training Evolution, Jersey City, N.J.
Major Julie Carpenter, Medical (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, or Explosive) Enhanced Response Force, conducts a preliminary health assessment on a firefighter from the Jersey City Hazmat Team, Jersey City Fire Department, N.J., before he conducts field operations and recovery during the Regional Mass Fatality Management Training Evolution on May 11, 2010 at the U.S. Army Reserve Center/Jersey City Police Facility in Jersey City, N.J. The RMFMTE focuses on fatality management techniques and procedures and assists in the development of local and regionalized response plans for response to a mass fatality event resulting from terrorist attacks or natural disasters. The week long joint training effort include the Air National Guard, Department of Homeland Security, New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner, along with numerous medical examiners/coroners, fire departments, law enforcement, and other federal and local agencies from the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania.
