A Hawaii Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook drops water on wildfires in Ka’anapali, Maui, Aug. 26, 2023. The Hawaii National Guard was part of Joint Task Force 5-0, comprised of Defense Department active duty and reserve forces, and dedicated to the safety and recovery of affected Maui residents, coordinating with local first responders while adhering to local, state and federal guidelines and laws. Maui suffered from one of the most destructive wildfires in U.S. history during the summer of 2023.
