Passing the torch: Continuing a family legacy of service
Lt. Col. Jennifer Leavitt, left, and her son 2nd Lt. Draven Oberlink, congratulate each other as Leavitt retires and Oberlink commissions into the U.S. Space Force during a joint ceremony in the 557th Weather Wing May 12. Leavitt served for more than 30 years starting as an active duty enlisted Airman and concluding as an officer with the 170th Air National Guard. Oberlink, who just graduated as an ROTC cadet at the University of Nebraska Detachment 470, the same school and detachment his mother attended, following an internship at NASA Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, now moves on to Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, to continue training as a Space Force officer.
