ALPENA, Mich.— Members of the 127th Security Forces Squadron, Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan, check in with leadership prior to inprocessing at Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center here on July 27, 2021. The defenders arrived to participate in Exercise Spartan, a two weeks long exercise meant to demonstrate the unit’s capability to operate in a contested, degraded and operationally-limited environment, against a near-peer adversary.
