NY Air Guard's 109th Airlift Wing participates in Alaska exercises
An LC-130 "Skibird," operated by the New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing, parks on a "skiway" snow runway on the Greenland Ice Cap during Exercise Polar Reach May 13, 2019. From February 20 to March 7, 2020, 109th Airmen will be participating in exercises Arctic Edge and Arctic Eagle in Alaska, showcasing the wing's ability to sustain a ski landing area in the extreme cold weather of northern Alaska.
