Family ties

SATHER AIR BASE, Iraq -- Tech. Sgt. Vernis Ziegelmann, left, shows his son, U.S. Army Spec. Vern Ziegelmann, one of several 750-kilowatt generators used to power the base here Nov. 8. The Army combat medic, assigned to the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, attached to the 412th Support Battalion in Balad, Iraq, toured the base with his father, a 447th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron Power Production journeyman, while on a one-day family morale visit granted by his platoon leader. Spec. Ziegelmann is the third in his family to serve in the U.S. military and in a foreign war. Sergeant Ziegelmann is deployed from Duluth Air National Guard Base, Minn., and Spec. Ziegelmann is deployed from Wash. (Staff Sgt. Jennifer Lindsey)
