MRAPs keep rolling in
SATHER AB, Iraq -- Master Sgt. Richard Strack, 447th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron Transient Alert superintendent, communicates with the air control tower to direct parking for an Antonov An-124 delivering six Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles here Nov. 5 for distribution to U.S. Army units in Iraq. Shipments of the armored vehicles designed to take blasts better than up-armored Humvees continue here since September. U.S. Air Force C-17s and C-5s are also used to ship the 38,000 pound vehicles, but at less capacity than the An-124 long-range, heavy transport aircraft. Sergeant Strack is deployed from Utah Air National Guard. (Staff Sgt. Jennifer Lindsey)
