Wing heroes, past and present

Lt. Col. Jay Craddock (retired) presents the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor to Airmen at Moffett Federal Airfield, Calif., Nov. 5, 2011. Craddock is a former group commander at the 129th Rescue Wing. 129th Rescue Wing Airmen heroically performed combat rescue missions in Afghanistan, often under hostile fire, in 2009 and 2010. Because of these actions they received the Distinguished Flying Cross, a medal awarded to servicemembers who distinguish themselves in support of operations by heroism or extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight.
