Westland, Mich., Police Officer Tim Horvath prepares to begin his patrol duties in the suburban Detroit community. Horvath is also a senior master sergeant in the Michigan Air National Guard, serving with the 127th Civil Engineer Squadron at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. “So many people learn and grow from their experiences in the National Guard, I would just hate to see fewer of those opportunities in the future,” he said.
