171st Water Survival Training
1st Lt. Will Rexer, left, and Capt. Donald Davenport, both pilots with the 171st Air Refueling Squadron, work together to pull an “injured” Airman out of the water during survival training in the pool of L’Anse Cruese North High School, near Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich., Oct. 16, 2012. Since Air Force air crews operate in a worldwide environment, they must train for every contingency scenario, including the possibility of a downed aircraft in an ocean or lake. The 171st flies the KC-135 Stratotanker, which can carry approximately 50 passengers. (Air National Guard photo by TSgt. Robert Hanet)
