ANG unit participates in Sexual Assault Prevention and Response stand-down day Published Sept. 16, 2014 By Senior Master Sgt. Ray Lloyd 107th Airlift Wing NIAGARA FALLS RESERVE STATION, N.Y. -- Members of the 107th Airlift Wing here participated in a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response stand-down day Sept. 14 that included training, open discussions and resources. The curriculum consisted of squadron level small group discussions that included facts about how offenders operate, the devastation they cause, and what each Airman can do to deter them. The 107th AW aspires to a safe culture among its members and this is one way of keeping Airmen informed. SAPR’s goal is to eliminate sexual assault from the military. "We want to create and have a safe culture for our Airmen here at Niagara," said Col. John J. Higgins, 107th AW commander. "There is no room for predators in our Air Force." The Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, Victim Advocates, Chaplain Services and the Wing Director of Psychological Health were available to assist and support members. “As a fellow Airman who has been indirectly impacted by sexual assault, I really appreciated being able to actively listen, learn, and contribute." said Master Sgt. Venita D. Jackson, from the Military Equal Opportunity Office. "Communication is a great tool at our disposal for promoting an environment where it will be harder for predators to prey." The day ended with a 5K run at Niagara Falls Reserve Station to raise awareness about the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program.
