Frank Howard 181st Intelligence Wing HULMAN FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Ind. -- Medics from the181st Intelligence Wing supported the Indiana National Guard Hoosier Youth ChalleNGe Academy in Knightstown, Indiana Jan. 10-25. During the two week event, Racer medics utilized their skills to perform morning and evening sick-call; ensure participants could medically participate in physical training, conducted first-aid on contestants during events, and assisted in patient education. "As citizen Airmen, we take every opportunity to refine and increase our medical skills to better support our neighbors," said 1st Lt Landon Hinman, 181st Medical Group. The 181st IW medics took time-off from their civilian occupations to participate in this annual event established to assist at-risk teens. "We don't have the opportunity to work with youths on a regular basis," said Hinman. "It is a different set of training skills from working with adults." The annual participation in this event is great for the community, the teens in the program, and for our continued readiness stated Col. Kip Clark, 181st IW commander. "One of the many strengths of the 181st IW is the ability for our Airmen to take their military skills and take them back to their civilian employer," said Clark, "It is an honor to be able to assist our Hoosier youths at a critical point in their lives."
