The CSM (Ret) Wallace J Paschal Enlisted National Guard Association of Alabama Membership Award was presented to the 117th Air Refueling Wing here on April 25.

The award recognizes the 117 ARW as having more enlisted members in the association than any other Air National Guard Wing, Geographically Separated Unit or Army National Guard Major Command in Alabama.

Col. Scott Grant, the 117ARW Vice Commander, and Chief Master Sgt. David Wright from the 117th Communications Flight were present to receive the award.

Each year the National Guard Association of Alabama and the Enlisted National Guard Association of Alabama  meet together for a combined conference. Officer and enlisted guardsmen hear messages from The Adjutant General and  other commanders of the Alabama National Guard.

"They look out for the men and women in the National Guard by lobbying for our best interest at Capitol Hill," said Wright.

The National Guard Association of Alabama and the Enlisted National Guard Association of Alabama are among other professional military organizations such as the Military Officers Association, the Air Force Association, and the Air Force Sergeants Association.

"They all have strong representation in Washington, D.C. They are all on our side when dealing with politicians to increase our chance for us to Lead the People Better, Improve the Unit in Many Ways, Manage our Many Resources Wisely, and Execute the Mission we are given in a timely and professional manner (LIME)", said Wright.

Wright is presently the Air North Representative for the State Enlisted Association.
