906 ARS holds memorial service for fallen warrior Published April 28, 2016 By Master Sgt. Ken Stephens 126th Public Affairs Office Scott Air Force Base, Ill. -- The 906th Air Refueling Squadron remembered a fallen comrade at a memorial service held here Apr. 27. Capt. Brandon Cyr, a pilot assigned to the squadron, was killed in a plane crash in Kandahar, Afghanistan, April 27, 2013, along with three other crew members. Lt. Col. Donald Landgrebe, commander of the 906th honored Cyr in front of friends. "I didn't know him but I see his influence still present in the unit," said Landgrebe. "Capt. Cyr was a friend to all who met him. He inspired others to always be their best." Before observing a moment of silence at 9:06 a.m., Landgrebe had one more thing to say. "Even though all his friends cannot be physically present as we in the mobility world are always scattered around the globe," said Landgrebe. "We know that we can come together in spirit in this same moment of time." The outdoor ceremony took place at a memorial wall honoring Cyr and other fallen members of the 126th Air Refueling Wing, the 906th's operational parent unit.
