The 181st Intelligence Wing supported April Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month by placing flags in the ground, each representing a current open case of sexual assault in the Indiana Air National Guard.

"Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month is important because it allows us to bring attention to Sexual Assault Prevention in a forum other than mandatory briefings," said Maj. Corrine A. Foree, 181 IW Sexual Assault Response coordinator. "The Adjutant General places significant emphasis on the SAPR program and right now we have a record number of open cases in the Indiana National Guard."

"Everyone has a part to play in prevention, like actively intervening if you are a bystander, and promoting a positive unit culture, and in response when it comes to supporting survivors of sexual assault," said Foree.

There are 27 flags in the ground outside the dining facility, each representing a current open case of sexual assault in the Indiana Air National Guard.

"It is good that we show the flags," said Senior Airman Carla Hernandez, 181st Intelligence Wing. "It lets people know that they are not alone and that it's okay to come forward if something has happened to them."
