Duties and Qualifications:

To perform a variety of logistical, maintenance, repair and modification of assigned tactical equipment used in support of Counterdrug (CD) operations. Requires thorough knowledge in radar system logistical support. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair all assigned radar assets at MASS facility.

Applicant should be familiar with radar principles, including theory of transistors and solid-state components, applicable to air control and warning radar, long range search radar system and associated data processing systems.

Must also be a graduate of a certified DoD or equivalent school in radar maintenance. Applicant must be able to read and interpret technical orders, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics. Uses layout drawings, schematics and technical orders to solve maintenance problems and analyzes equipment construction and operating characteristics to determine source of malfunction. Performs alignment procedures. Determines repair procedures to correct defective equipment and relays information to facility supervisor for approval/coordination.
Repairs radar sets and associated electronic equipment at deployed CD ground mobile radar (GMR) sites or at MASS maintenance facility. Performs preventive maintenance inspections of equipment. Repairs, assembles, connects and wires equipment such as antennas, transmitters, receivers, synchronizers and other critical system related equipment. Conducts tests of equipment for component assembly and compliance with technical orders. Calibrates, tunes, and aligns radar equipment according to technical orders and manufacturers handbooks.
