Duration of Assignment:  Two  (2) years minimum

Duties and Qualifications:

Serve as a key advisor to the Counterdrug Division Chief, responsible for the day-to-day management of the Counterdrug office.  Responsible for section and Branch Chief oversight, allocation of resources to ensure mission capability, development of policy and planning guidance for the 54 Counterdrug Programs (CDP), and planning, coordination, and supervision of all activities that support the CD mission. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned, which would be directly related to the nature of the position. Frequent travel may be required. Experience developing staff actions regarding Counternarcotic plans, and proven leadership, operational and planning experience at state, joint staff, interagency or NGB is highly desired.

Must be able to analyze counternarcotics policies that relate to the highest level; formulate strategies and policies; foster strategic interagency partnerships, and foresee implications for the 54 CDPs. Able to provide operational and strategic level vision, forecasting, planning, direction and staffing to determine CD engagement at the National Security Strategy, National Military Strategy, National Drug Control Strategy and Combatant Commander (COCOM) program levels.

Must be able to manage large national program with a significant budget and numerous Army and Air Guard personnel employed at multiple locations nationwide and overseas. Must be a team player and able to further develop positive relationships within the NG, Department of Defense, COCOMs, CD Training Centers, Interagency partners, community based organizations, tribal nations, and all levels of law enforcement. Must possess proven analytical, writing, and oral presentation skills. Must be able to work independently, assimilate information, and make judgements and recommendations congruent with Office of the Secretary of Defense and NG-J32 policy and guidance.

Prerequisites:

-Must be a current member of the Air National Guard

-  Must be able to complete a two (2) year tour from the start date

-  Minimum two (2) years, State or National level, cumulative Counterdrug experience required, State Counterdrug Coordinator experience preferred
