It wasn’t long ago Airmen from the 158th Airlift Squadron, Savannah, Georgia, were delivering supplies with their fleet of C-130H Hercules aircraft to hurricane victims in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. But just a few weeks later, they find themselves on the other side of the world in Southwest Asia supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

Duke Field Air National Guard strikes hard in first ‘Combat Hammer’ exercise
Airmen from multiple units across the Air National Guard supported and flew MQ-9 Reaper aircraft during Operation Combat Hammer, the first operational air-to-ground weapons evaluation for the ANG to participate in with the MQ-9 Reaper mission set. Airmen from Texas, New York, Iowa, Ohio, California, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Arkansas and North Dakota supported and flew the MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft.

LC-130 aircrew completes South Pole mission despite extreme weather conditions NY ANG completes South Pole mission despite extreme weather
The harsh, unforgiving and unpredictable weather of Antarctica made a routine mission to the South Pole a little more than an LC-130 “Skibird” crew with the 139th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron had bargained for on Nov. 9, 2017. Despite the extreme cold, minimum visibility and maximum crosswinds, the crew safely landed at the National Science Foundation's Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station after three attempts during a resupply mission.
