The wildlife inhabiting Antarctica consists of seals, penguins and birds and U.S. Air Force Chaplain (Maj.) Kraig Kroeker photographed this seal while hiking near McMurdo Station during his nearly two-month deployment there in the winter months of 2017. Kroeker, the 173rd Fighter Wing chaplain, was part of a partnership between the National Science Foundation and the Air National Guard to supply chaplain services to the extremely remote base.
