MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. – U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Paul H. Lankford was the first Deputy Commandant of the Air National Guard’s Noncommissioned Officer Academy here. He is credited with assisting the Air Guard to establish and graduate its first class in 1968. Later, he assisted in establishing the Air Guard’s Airman Leadership School and Academy of Military Science and Seminar for Direct Commissioned Officers. Lankford served at the school house for 13 years after retiring from more than 29 years in the active duty Air Force.
