Chief Master Sgt. Paul H. Lankford

MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. – Chief Master Sgt. Paul H. Lankford was the first Deputy Commandant of the Air Guard’s Noncommissioned Officer Academy. He helped establish and graduate its first class in 1968. Later, he assisted in establishing Airman Leadership School, the Academy of Military Science and the Seminar for Direct Commissioned Officers. Lankford served at the center for 13 years after retiring. He first enlisted in the Army Air Corps in October 1939 and survived the infamous Death March of Bataan as a prisoner of war for 42 months.
