New Mexico Airmen and Soldiers assisting at Dog Head Fire Published June 21, 2016 By 2nd Lt. Anna Doo New Mexico National Guard Tijeres, N.M. -- The New Mexico National Guard was activated June 15 to respond to the Dog Head Fire burning south of Tijeres in Bernalillo and Torrance Counties. Airmen and Soldiers arrived on site to support law enforcement officials as well as civilian first response organizations. Beginning on the first full day of state active duty on June 16, shifts consisting of more than 20 Airmen from the 150th Special Operations Wing accompanied Bernalillo County deputies and state police staffing road blocks on NM 337 and going door-to-door in mandatory evacuation areas.
