New seals a ‘singular representation’ of Army, Air Guard
Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, recently approved three new seals, representing the National Guard Bureau, Army National Guard and Air National Guard. The NGB seal change was done to pay respect to the bureau’s history, while the Army National Guard Seal was changed and an Air National Guard Seal established to develop a more singular representation of all the National Guards of the States, Territories, and the District of Columbia.

VIRTUAL FLAG 22-2: Homeland Defense exercise was successfully executed at the 705th Combat Training Squadron’s Distributed Mission Operation Center, or DMOC, located at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, and distributed locations around the world from March 28 – Apr. 1, 2022. VF: HLD, an Air Combat Command exercise, provides operational and tactical warfighter training in synthetic, theater-level, joint-combat environments. VF: HLD focused on horizontal and vertical command and control, or C2, integrating air defense assets with tactical U.S. Air Force C2 platforms.

A pair of F-22 Raptors from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, fly above snow-capped mountains. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many airline pilots were furloughed as the industry came to a screeching halt. Now that airlines are seeking to hire hundreds of pilots, those pilots coming off active duty can continue serving in an Air Reserve Component. The Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard allow former active-duty pilots to continue their military service while giving them a supplemental income and benefits should the airline industry experience slow-downs or set-backs in the future. The Air Force revises Air Force Instruction 36-2903 to address differences in hair density and texture June 25, 2021. When hair is secured behind the head, the hair may extend six inches to the left and to the right and six inches protruding from the point where the hair is gathered.
